APMG-International Agile Project Management (AgilePM) Foundation and Practitioner

Overview

This workshop, based on the APMG International’s Agile Project Management (AgilePM®), focuses on the management of benefits from Agile initiatives. Since its introduction in 2010, AgilePM has fast established itself as the world’s leading framework and certification for Agile project management, with over 170,000 exams sat worldwide.

The DSDM (Dynamic System Development Method) Consortium was founded in 1994 to formalise and maintain best practice in systems development methods and management.  DSDM’s AgilePM® has evolved into an industry recognised method for managing software development projects in an agile environment. In order to promote standards and consistency in understanding and operation of AgilePM®, the DSDM Consortium has collaborated with APMG International to develop an accredited standard for Agile Project Management.  Led by an accredited expert, an interactive multi-media approach is used to bring the syllabus to life and prepare you for the examinations. The course is specifically designed for those seeking professional recognition and certification in project management but is also suitable for those who are currently managing or involved with major software development projects employing agile methods.

Objectives

This course is aimed at ensuring you are sufficiently familiar with AgilePM® concepts, techniques, processes and vocabulary so as to successfully achieve the certification.  Additionally, you will receive guidance and advice on how best to apply the learning and, where appropriate, tailor the method to best effect within your own projects (Note: there are two levels of certification: Foundation and Practitioner.  This course covers both syllabuses.  Candidates will be required to pass the Foundation examination prior to attempting the Practitioner examination).

The course blends formal presentation with practical exercises, multi-media, sharing of trainer and delegate experiences and focused discussion.  The trainers use their extensive project management experience to illustrate and put into context the concepts and techniques, to expand on the AgilePM® material and ensure you gain a full and rounded understanding.  Time is provided for discussion and clarification on, and practice in, exam techniques.  The 40 minute, closed book multiple-choice Foundation examination is taken at the end of day three. The 2½ hour, open book objective testing Practitioner examination is taken at the end of day five.
